Note that these FAQs relate specifically to our PixaPlay experiences. For general questions about our business and venue, please see our
PixaPlay experiences use a digital projector to display a game or other visual experience onto a surface like a wall, floor or sandpit. As players interact with the projection, motion and depth detection cameras track their movements and the game responds to the actions.
Games range from arcade-style action (using hands, balls or other tools to knock out or chase game objects away), to solving simple puzzles or just watching how body movements change a beautiful scene.
Your PixaPlay session can be as action-packed or relaxing as you like. You book the room for an hour and our Game Masters will choose a selection of experiences to try during that time based on your preferences. Our large PixaPlay room can fit up to 6 players in one session, while the small room can fit up to 4 players at once. Seating is available in the rooms for accompanying adults/ carers.
PixaPlay sessions require participants to be sighted as they are a visual experience. Otherwise, all ages and abilities can participate. Our rooms are wheelchair-accessible and the experiences can be enjoyed in a seated position.
We provide a briefing at the beginning of your session and our staff will help you select which experiences you'd like to try based on the make-up of your group. We require at least one adult to be in the room at all times.
Our PixaPlay sessions are 1 hour long. We allow 10 minutes before your game for a briefing, game selection and setup, and another 5 to 10 minutes at the end to take photos, gather your things and marvel at your experience! So the standard time on-site is around 1.5 hours. Because we run sessions back-to-back all day, we need people to arrive on time. If you are late for your session, we may have to reduce your game time to ensure that you don't cut into the next booked session.
We have 2 PixaPlay rooms. One can fit up to 10 players at once while the other can fit up to 4 players. Seating is provided for parents in each room also.
If you have a larger group, please call to book multiple rooms for the one session, noting that the games will run independently for each booked room (ie players in one room won't be able to see or interact with players in the other room). Alternatively, you could book a double session in one room and have players take turns interacting with the PixaPlay games.
We are currently not hiring out PixaPlay equipment for use off-site, but may look into this in the future. Please let us know if this is something you would be interested in so we can determine whether this would be a viable option in the future.
We wipe down all game equipment and high touch-point surfaces in the game rooms between each session. Floors are vacuumed and/ or mopped at the end of each day. We have HEPA filters installed in our air-conditioning system, and anti-bacterial hand-cleaning stations are available in our lobby.
We VERY, VERY, VERY strongly recommend booking, as we roster staff based on confirmed bookings for each day. We may open late/ close early if there are no bookings, so cannot guarantee that anyone will be on-site to serve walk-in customers. You can book online up to 4 hours before an available session starts; for lead-in times shorter than 4 hours please call to see if we can fit you in.
